Project Brief
Nikunote is a premium Japanese pet treat brand specializing in single-ingredient, additive-free dried meats. Entering the Canadian market, they needed a visual identity that could speak to Western consumers — warm, lifestyle-driven, and a world away from the clinical aesthetics dominating pet food shelves.

Project Overview

The challenge was twofold: replace an overly clinical visual identity with something warm and personal, and differentiate individual product lines that previously looked interchangeable on shelf. The brand needed to feel like it came from a place of genuine care — not a factory floor.
Our Approach

We built the identity around a "handwritten diary" concept — crayon-textured silhouettes of a dog and cat sharing a quiet moment, paired with bold Japanese characters and playful English type. Each product line was assigned a distinct color story while retaining the same hand-drawn aesthetic, creating visual variety without sacrificing cohesion. Packaging materials were also reconsidered with sustainability in mind, moving toward kraft-texture stocks that reinforced the brand's natural, additive-free promise.

What the Client Says
"AGP understood our brand soul immediately. The packaging feels handcrafted and warm — exactly what we needed to connect with Canadian pet owners."
